PEARLS OF WISDOM

I just came across what I think is the most thoughtful and rich inheritance anyone could ever recieve or pass on....... some Pearls of Wisdom.

It was a letter from a grandma to her newborn grandchild........."because it is important we pass on to our children the pearls of wisdom we have learned from the kindness of others".

My Dearest Jordan,

As you learn and grow, hopefully some of the following thoughts written in this letter will help as you begin your journey to be the best you can be while experiencing a rich and happy life filled with family, friends and those you interact with in the years to come.

If someone treats you with kindness, a warm smile and a quiet thank you..speak volumes.

Please learn to accept people for who they are, not who you think they should be.

Never leave the house without your sense of humor.

Limit your use of sarcasm. It is often used as a disguise to hurt others.

Believe in yourself. Others may question your integrity, honesty, optimism and faith. always remember that you are special, unique and the only you that will ever exist. Make friends with that as soon as possible.

Don't put yourself down. There are enough people in the world who will want to do that for you.

You can grow up and become anything you want.

Embrace changes that enrich your life. Learn to tolerate and make the best of those that don't.

Work to help those less fortunate and also work to ease the burden of others by treating them with respect, praise, kindness and good manners.

Each day, show people you love how much you care. They won't be around forever.

Learn from the past, live in the present, and plan for the future.

Respect and learn from your teachers. They are heroes.

Practice forgiveness. Not for the person you believe harmed you, but for yourself. Anger, pain and resentment are a heavy burden to carry throughout your life.

Work on developing an appreciation for music, art, literature and other forms of expression. It will nurture your soul.

Embrace the differences in others and learn from them.

And always love and respect your parents. You are the greatest gift they will ever receive.

You already have learned how to create happiness by receiving and giving unconditional live to everyone you come in contact with. My heartfelt wish for you is that it continues everyday of your life. And with the way your young life has begun, it most assuredly will.

with much love,

Your Grandmother

Kissing the Blarney Stone.

Well..it's been a hell-of-a couple of months...so much calamity goes on in my life... again..I think the universe is trying to tell me it's time for a Really BIG CHANGE!!!!! I know..i know.. I could use a small "quick lift".....but I think I'll just start with this blog. hey..maybe I should change the name to "Calamity Kay's"!

Well, after the grandchildren told me they were settin' out traps to catch a leprechaun on St. Paddy's Day ..I thought, .."Yea..what better way to use the brilliantly honed skills I'll developed over the years (snooping in my 3 kid's private life's and trapping the marauding mice in the garage).. to seriously..nab the little green bugger that must be making those questionable messes thru out the house during the night when I am fast asleep......

(Nooo... I'm not talking about my peeing-pug -Oscar.. and Mike is more of the tan- yellowish color..)

.. I'm making it me job to capture the clever little Irish guy with the pot-o-gold! .... Oh yea..I'd settle for Gerald Butler as I 've a luvin' heart for him ..but isn't he Scottish?

...anyhoo...as soon as it stops it's raining here and the darn sun comes out...me and me leprechaun.......will be sitting crosslegged, at the end of that rainbow.. sippin' on a big glass of green Guinness .......... or two.....before heading off to me long forgotten homeland.. thee emerald green Isles of me Ireland!

"Erin go Braga!"

yea ..didn't I tell ya...I'm a lass ..with a wee bit of Irish in me blood! I called my dear sweet MAM..er.. ah..mom ... as I wanted some true verification of exactly what % of Irish blood I had running in me Celtic veins before I put any % of Irish whiskey in me Celtic belly! Her.. (in her full German brogue) ..said, "Now, McKay, my O'dear...you know your father was mostly German but I do know that your father's grandfather was a true blooded Irish, esp. after your own father naming your sister's a boy's name "KERRY"! The story goes your great-grandfather went off one day into the hills....and was never to be heard of again!..... leaving your poor great- grandmother and your grandmother and all her younger brothers and sisters to fend for themselves ..so your great-grandmother packed up all her meager belongings in a covered wagon and headed across country to a better life in Texas. Your grandma always said that they thought he was surely killed in those woods by the revenue agents for making "Poitin"....better known as White Lightening! wow!! My great-grandfather was a moon shiner!! "Faith and Begarra!"

Well...Hurray!!! My Irish eyes are smiling!

... I now know why my favorite color is green and why my polka looks just like the Irish jig!

.......so as the luck of the Irish would have it..me plan is to get me gold and get to the Blarney Castle and give that Old ROCK one smacker and bring back .........

.....BUT.... don't sit on your hands waiting for me...I love your blogs so much so if you don't see me here .....know I read yours everyday.

TOO RA LOO RA LOO RAL

TOO RA LOO RA LI!
